EED: Energy Efficiency Directive
-
What does the EED mean?
It’s a new directive pertaining to energy efficiency. Its goal is to increase the visibility that owners and residents have of their consumption in order to raise their awareness and improve their behaviors with respect to energy. In this way, the European Union intends to reduce the environmental impact of consumers all while helping them make savings.
The EED in some dates…
24 December 2018
Application of modifications to the old EED 2012/27/EU. These modifications suggest that different EU countries provide the possibility to owners and occupants to consult their consumption information multiple times per year. Different building owners and managers are thus obliged to provided residents with this information, namely: costs, actual consumption in kWh and their CO₂ emissions.
25 October 2020
As of this date, meters and heat cost allocators installed must be able to be read remotely in order to guarantee that consumers frequently and at low cost have data relative to their consumption available to them.
When meters and heat cost allocators that can be read remotely are installed, actual consumption data must be communicated at least twice a year, or even once per quarter on demand or if the client has chosen electronic billing.
1 January 2022
As of this date, when meters and heat cost allocators that can be read remotely have been installed, information on the consumption of residents is sent to them at least once a month.
1 January 2027
All meters, even those installed before 25 October 2020, must be able to be read remotely.
Index+ helps you comply with the EED
With the Index+ solution, you communicate with a single contact person, from the ordering of your meters to their installation, as well for the readings and division of costs. We help you update the equipment you are responsible for in order to meet European obligations.
With the Index+ platform, you can permanently see the readings and consumption from each meter or heat cost allocator. Moreover, each owner and/or resident can now keep an eye on their readings and their consumption, and they can do so at any time.
So that the information communicated to residents and owners corresponds to what is demanded in the EED, our platform is adapted and provides users with information on:
- Their readings
- Their monthly consumption (in kWh, …)
